Workforce Training
This presentation covers the processes and techniques used to take information from the workplace and put it
into a training format with the use of a digital camera and a PowerPoint program to enhance the visual aspects
of the training. This process is being used at a motor rebuild and repair facility in Princeton. The concerns of the
company are that skilled employees are retiring and there are no qualified workers to take their place. Many of
the skills that are needed are not available in any technology training facility which leaves a gap for knowledge
of skills in the work force.

eBook Initiative for the PTA Program
New River has been using iPads in the classroom at the Greenbrier Valley Campus for more than a year now.
Just recently, the College has begun to plan for a pilot of eBooks in the Physical Therapy Assistant program for
fall 2013, but there are many questions to address as part of this initiative. How are eBooks identified? What
technology will the students need to view them? How will the costs of this compare to the cost of traditional
textbook purchases? This session will summarize our planning, the questions we’ve faced, and our progress to
date by providing an overview of next steps and hoped for benefits and outcomes.
