How do I change my email password?
From anywhere that you have Internet access, you can use the Outlook Web Access interface to check your New River email. And once you've accessed your email, you can also change your password. You should change your password at least every few months and you should use a combination of letters and numbers that make it easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess. We highly recommend that you use a strong password (about strong passwords).
While your username is intended to be public information, your password should be private information that only you know. Follow these steps to change your password:
- Login to Outlook Web Access
- Choose Options from the navigation bar on the left of the screen.
- Scroll to the bottom of the window that is displayed to locate the Change Password option.
- If a new browser window fails to appear you may have to change the "Block Popups" feature. Complete the five fields in the new Internet Service Manager window that opens. Be sure that your username is correct and that you type in the domain as newriver. Once you've completed all five fields, click the "OK" button.
- You should receive confirmation that your password has been reset. If you have problems here check the information you've typed in the fields or call us (304.929.6725) for help.
- To verify that your new password indeed works, logout of Outlook Web Access and login again using the new password. Also, if you typically use another application to check email you may need to update it with your new password the next time you use it.
