The mission of Information Technology is to enable the College to achieve its goals of providing a student-centered, technology-enhanced educational experience for all students.
GOAL A
Promote teaching effectiveness by providing training for (a) skills-based technology instruction, (b) applications of technology to the educational experience, and (c) personalized assistance with technology-related issues.
Objectives
A.1 To provide faculty and staff with systematic and progressive instruction that is both timely and relevant to their responsibilities to promote the infusion of appropriate applications of technology into the curricula and/or work environment.
A.2 To provide the means by which students may acquire basic competencies in the use of computers and related information technology resources through an effective orientation experience available to all students and integrated throughout the general education and major courses.
A.3 To capitalize on training opportunities presented by queries for assistance from faculty, staff, and students by providing individual training and assistance when possible and by continually re-examining topics of formalized training sessions for appropriateness.
Measures/Sources of Data for As Objectives
Primarily course offerings, attendance, and course completion records will measure the effectiveness of the faculty, staff, and student training initiatives. Evidence of technology usage will further indicate effectiveness of training initiatives. Additional measures will include interactions with members of the College community, the nature of their queries for assistance, and user feedback.
GOAL B
Provide technical troubleshooting services and assistance in support of instructional and administrative goals of the College.
Objectives
B.1 To provide responsive frontline technical troubleshooting services and assistance for faculty, staff, computer labs and computer-enhanced classrooms on each campus through the Information Technology staff members deployed there.
B.2 To provide centralized technical troubleshooting and assistance for the entire College community through the Help Desk.
Measures/Sources of Data for Bs Objectives
The effectiveness of troubleshooting support will be measured by the general satisfaction expressed by faculty and staff on each campus and by maintaining a high percentage of resolved issues based on registered trouble tickets from these locations. Evidence of troubleshooting effectiveness by the Help Desk will be collected through trouble ticket data and user satisfaction based on user feedback.
GOAL C
Provide consulting and other services in support of the instructional mission of the College.
Objectives
C.1 To create and periodically update a program through which College-owned computers may be maintained and replaced to remain technologically current while providing comparable guidance for student-owned computers.
C.2 To provide access to a variety of instructional facilities, learning resources, and instructional support services (e.g., educational equipment and specialized facilities such as laboratories, computer-enhanced classrooms, audiovisual and duplicating services, and learning skills centers) so as to provide easy access for faculty and student users.
C.3 To serve as consultants for renovations or new construction of teaching/learning spaces ranging from classrooms to academic buildings regarding effective incorporation of information technologies.
Measures/Sources of Data for Cs Objectives
The annual development of criteria by which computers should be replaced and the actual replacement of these college-owned computers will serve as evidence for the effectiveness of assisting the College to remain technologically current. Primarily effectiveness of access to facilities and resources will be determined by user satisfaction. This will be augmented by facility and resource usage statistics when possible. The number of projects necessitating staff involvement and the outcome of these projects will measure the effectiveness of consulting services.
